This is the classroom I shared with my old pal Ms. Vasco from 2004 to 2014. She taught 5th & 6th Grade Band, I taught 7th & 8th. We were a team in every sense of the word. Never has a cross word or awkward moment passed between us. I did, however, digilently strive to get a "tsk" or "what the f*k!" out of her every day. I am pleased to report that I had a very high success rate

It's not one of those really neat, tidy, buttoned down classrooms. It is, however, clean and well organized. When I arrived in 2004 the budget for classroom stuff was $0. I decorated the band room with things that would inform the students about who I was and where I came from. I put pictures of musicians, entertainers and atheltes that I hoped they would ask me about. I wanted them to be interested. |
During the time Ms. Vasco and I worked together, well over 1,000 students walked through that door and joined in the fun.
This is the view from the podium. For 10 years I sat here 5-6 hours a day, 180 days a year. Approximately 10,000 hours. I felt very comfortable in my wobbly, beat up, decades old Director's Chair.
