Pretty much the same as last year's ticket except that I changed the date and number. I did add a graphic! The little tiny screw-eyes head with the encircling hands. My career as a graphic artist evolves
For the second year in a row we had baseball undershirts with 3/4 sleeves, this time in red. This time, the screen is made with a copy of the actual logo. For some reason I put "I'm in the Band" on the shirt. This is a precursor to thought bubbles and word bubbles to appear on future shirts.
Well, it looks like this program is pretty much hand drawn. As you can see I have become enamoured of putting drop shadows on my text boxes. The letters PAPER BAG are in the typeface "Cooper Black" I had sheets of letter transfers, where you would line up the letters and rub over them with a pencil point and the ink would stick to the paper. For the words "the Players" in the gatefold below, I simply cut and pasted a copy of Doug Baldwin's work. Don't forget, this was before computers so I literally mean "cut out with sissors and paste in with glue."
You will notice that in the caricature in the gatefold above, that I have colored in my black eye. I got hit in the face with a softball during batting practice with the Chelsea's softball team. I actually got hit in the right eye, but when I look at myself in the mirror, this is what I saw, so this is what I drew. Also of interest in the program is the designation of Davied Noyes as Comeback Player of the Year, and that it points out that Mary Cheese might give birth on stage. Having one or more Calzones being pregnant onstage has become more or less a Bag tradition.
I have an envelope from each Bag, stuffed with receipts. Here is one you might find interesting. If you click here or click on the contract you will be rewarded with a larger image of this document and a funny story.
